The museum holds a large collection of geodes in its exhibition materials, including a beautiful amethyst specimen that stands several feet high.

Geodes are one of nature’s great surprises. The museum maintains a supply of uncracked geodes that visitors can purchase and have cracked on site. Museum volunteers will crack the geode and identify the different crystals that can be found within each specimen.
